5 New Netbooks with the Longest Battery Life
By admin • Oct 15th, 2010 • Category: Laptop Battery TechnologiesNetbooks are increasingly popular for two main reasons: their incredible portability, and stunning battery life. As technologies progress and more netbooks come into the market, some of these machines have begun to push the envelope further and further, pushing the limits of battery life far beyond what we ever thought possible. Here are a few of the best in terms of battery life.
The ASUS Eee 1015PED netbook for example, has an estimated battery life of a staggering thirteen hours. It boasts a 10.1 inch screen, Intel Atom processor, 1 GB DDR3 RAM, wireless, and 250 GB hard drive. In addition, it comes with a complimentary 500 GB of web storage from ASUS.
Micro Star International has also released its MSI Wind U160. Not only does it last for an incredible 15 hours, but is also ultra light, and won the Innovation Foundation’s Design Award on its global launch. This machine as well boasts Intel’s Atom N450 processor, up to 2 GB DDR2 RAM, a 10.1 inch screen, and a 320 GB hard drive.
Dell’s Inspiron 1012 Mini also makes the list of long-life netbooks with 9 hours battery life. This machine sets itself apart from other on the list with an improved resolution of 1366 x 768, over the standard 1024 x 600. This machine has a 10.1 inch screen, Intel Atom N450 processor, 1 GB DDR2 RAM, and a 160 GB hard drive.
The HP Mini 2140 is reported to last for approximately 6 hours on a single charge, with the screen at 70% brightness and the wireless on. While this may seem low compared to other machines on this list, bear in mind that this is with the screen set somewhat brighter than most machines undergoing battery testing, and most machines are tested with the wireless card off, as it is one of the most infamous battery drainers in your system. The Mini 2140 has a 10.1 inch screen, Intel Atom N270 processor, 1 GB DDR2 RAM, and a 60 GB hard drive.
The Samsung NB30 netbook is also an incredibly long-lasting machine, clocking in at approximately 11 hours of battery life. What makes this computer stand out however is that even under normal heavier use, the battery lasts for approximately 9 hours which is a much smaller dip than you will find in most machines. This machine is equipped with a 10.1 inch screen, Intel’s Atom N450 Processor, 1 GB DDR2 RAM, and a 160 GB Hard drive.
All of these machine these machines are big on battery life and very light on your wallet. As Laptop batteries continue to evolve and new technologies are developed we may one day see a battery that can last more than an entire day without needing to be recharged.
